Gravati punch cap bal boots in dark brown calfskin (10278, 683 last). Have I mentioned that these boots have padded tongues? Well, they do, and it's a very good idea. I have high insteps, and laced shoes typically irritate me after a while on the top of my foot. (This is one of the reasons that I like side-elastic shoes: no laces to irritate my feet.) Padded tongues tend to minimize this effect.

Today's Shoes
Day
Gravati five-eyelet plain-toe ankle blucher boot with a floating medallion in dark brown Radica 01 calf (15950, 655 last). It's been too long since I wore these. Among its other virtues, Radica calf is also very soft, which means that ankle boots made from it don't bind like boots made from thicker, harder leather.
Evening
Gravati wholecut plain-toe bluchers in caramel calf with a rubber lug sole (16368, 640 last). Since it was supposed to rain and I had to help move a freezer and I was going to a kid's birthday party (happy birthday, Becca!), they seemed an appropriate choice.

Today's Shoes
Gravati plain-toe wholecut blucher with reversed seams on the eyelet facings in a caramel tan calf with a rubber lug sole. It rained this morning, it was Big E's 6th birthday, and I had the feeling that I would either be running around getting stuff for the party or be in the muddy back yard or both.

Today's Shoes

Gravati side-zip plain-toe Bologna-constructed ankle boots in dark brown kangaroo (16821, last 683). Kangaroo is an interesting leather. It is significantly thinner than calfskin, but it has more tensile strength. It also shines up beautifully. Kangaroos are apparently nasty buggers, so getting unmarked hides or usable sections of hides is very difficult. Gravati managed to get some good-quality ones, though.

Gravati whole-cut plain-toe bluchers in British tan with a rubber lug sole (16368, last 640). Rubber soles seem appropriate given the crappy weather. Gravati uses nice reversed seams for the facings on these shoes, which is unusual.
