Notice the metal tip at the toe of the sole, which manfully resists wear but makes a heck of a racket in the process. Weston also makes a couple of models that have steel plates instead of rubber strips in the corner of the heel, too. That prevents heel wear but can damage wood floors and cause the wearer to slip and fall on his butt when traction isn't perfect.

Today's Shoes
